HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – A driving rain storm swept through
the area early Friday, forcing first round play of the inaugural Seton Hall-Rutgers
Golf Classic (SHURU) to be suspended. After an officials meeting, the decision
was made to suspend play due to unfavorable conditions at the par-72 Royce Brook
Golf Course.
The event has now been shortened to 18 holes. Weather permitting, teams will tee off between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
RU and Seton Hall joined Villanova, Boston College, St. Peter’s, Loyola, Wagner, Temple, Campbell, Towson, Rider and Monmouth in competition at the 12-team tournament.
The Rutgers-Seton Hall Classic is the fourth of six tournaments on the Scarlet Knights’ fall schedule.
