Piscataway, N.J. - The Rutgers University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday evening to officially dedicate the Harriett and Bob Druskin Strength and Conditioning Center. The facility is located on the concourse level of the Rutgers Athletic Center and will be utilized by the Scarlet Knights' programs that call the RAC home.
"We are delighted we could participate in this way," Bob Druskin said. "I have a great belief in the impact that conditioning can make. It's a great honor to support everything Rutgers athletics has done. We believe in the people here, we believe in the mission, we believe in the University."
"As an Athletic Director any time you get to dedicate a new room for our student athletes, that's a pretty special day," Pat Hobbs said. "This is all about benefitting our student-athletes. You can't do your best without these kinds of resources. These are incredibly important investments, and the types of investments that need to be made at Rutgers University in order to be successful. And we can only make those investments through the generosity of people like Bob and Harriet Druskin."
In addition to Hobbs, men's basketball coach Steve Pikiell, women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer and student-athletes Tyler Scaife and Kyle Holder addressed the attendees and spoke about the positive impact that the Druskin Strength and Conditioning Center will have.
"Bob and Harriett, I can't tell you how grateful I am for what you did for these student-athletes," Pikiell said. "Your generous support of this program is unbelievable. I'm excited to have a Big Ten facility right here with this weight room."
"In order for us to compete in the Big Ten, it's often been said that the mind can be willing but the body won't," Stringer said. "Our student-athletes are excited to come use these beautiful, inviting weight room. We thank the Druskin family from the bottom of our hearts for their gift."
Assistant Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning David VanDyke, provided a tour of the Center and described the many features amenities contained therein.
