PISCATAWAY, N.J. (January 25, 2011) – Former Rutgers standout Devin McCourty’s phenomenal rookie season with the New England Patriots added another accolade to his growing list as he was named to the Associated Press All-Pro Second Team. The All-Pro squad is selected by 50 media members from across the country who cover the NFL.
McCourty, the Patriots’ 2010 first-round draft choice, had a team-high seven interceptions while starting every game. He finished the season with 82 tackles, third on the team.
It marked the second straight year a Scarlet Knight earned a spot on the AP All-Pro Second Team after former RU All-America running back Ray Rice earned the honor last season.
McCourty was one of two Scarlet Knights selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, joining OT Anthony Davis of the San Francisco 49ers. Davis started all 16 games at right tackle as a rookie.
McCourty closes out his sensational rookie campaign this week at the NFL Pro Bowl in Honolulu.
