PISCATAWAY, NJ - The first calendar week of training camp came to an end today with a spirited full-squad practice by the Scarlet Knights. Today's practice featured the full participation of highly-touted freshman Nate Robinson among its highlights. Robinson has been in camp since reporting day last Tuesday, but has not been able to practice at full speed due to a dental problem that has since been resolved.
" We had a very focused practice today," said head coach Greg Schiano. "We managed to stay on track for the entire practice, blocking out the rainstorms and any other distractions."
Rutgers' sixth session of the preseason falls exactly three weeks from the season opening kickoff vs. Buffalo on August 30 at Rutgers Stadium (7:00 p.m.)
" We'll remind them tonight that kick-off is just three weeks away," said Schiano.
Rutgers will practice on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., its first session in full pads, before holding a double-session on Monday (8:30 a.m./3:20 p.m.). The effort of all the previous practices will culminate with the first scrimmage of camp on Tuesday, August 12 at 10:15 a.m. at Rutgers Stadium. All sessions through Saturday, August 16 are open to the public.
