Davis Named Second Team Preseason All-America by Athlon
Second Preseason All-America Honor for Rutgers’ Junior Left Tackle

  • Athlon SportsPISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers junior left tackle Anthony Davis (Piscataway, N.J.) has been named a Preseason Second Team All-American by Athlon Sports. Davis, who is featured on the cover of Athlon’s BIG EAST 2009 Preview Magazine, headlines the top offensive line in the BIG EAST according to the magazine.

    Davis was named Second Team All-BIG EAST as a sophomore last season and is a candidate for the Outland Trophy in 2009. As a true freshman in 2007, Davis earned Freshman All-America honors from three media outlets.

    The Scarlet Knights closed out the 2008 season with seven consecutive victories, including a 29-23 win over NC State in the PapaJohns.com Bowl. The Scarlet Knights have appeared in four consecutive bowls and have won three straight bowl championships.

    The seven-game win streak is tied for the fourth longest active streak in the nation.

    Rutgers opens the 2009 season Monday, Sept. 7 vs. Cincinnati at the newly-expanded Rutgers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN.
