TAMPA, Fla. Former Rutgers center and current Pittsburgh Steelers starting right guard Darnell Stapleton (Union, N.J.) became the sixth Scarlet Knight to earn a Super Bowl ring as the Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII Sunday evening in Tampa.

It marked the third consecutive year a former Scarlet Knight won a Super Bowl ring. In 2007, Gary Brackett of the Indianapolis Colts won Super Bowl XLI and last season Shaun O’Hara captured a Super Bowl ring with the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII. Stapleton is the third undrafted free agent from Rutgers in as many years to win a Super Bowl.
