PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers punter Mike Barr has been invited to participate in the Washington Redskins’ mini-camp this Friday-Saturday. Barr will report to the Redskins’ headquarters Thursday night.
“I’m pretty excited to get this chance,” said Barr, one of the top punters in Rutgers history. “I was out to dinner with my folks when my agent called. When I got home, I had so much energy that I went out for a run, and I think I sprinted the first mile and a half.”
Barr finished his career as the all-time leader for Scarlet Knights, averaging 40.2 yards per punt. He was second all-time with 251 career boots, and kicked for an all-time best of 10,096 yards. As a senior in 2003, he was fourth in the BIG EAST, averaging 40.3 yards per punt. He led the Conference with 92 punts, and 3707 punting yards. Barr was the recipient of Scarlet Knights’ “12th Man Award” as the top special teams player.
