PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers senior cornerback Brandon Haw was one of 15 free agents who have signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Haw was a three-year starter at cornerback for the Scarlet Knights, and concluded his career with six interceptions and 139 tackles. He was the team’s ninth leading tackler as a senior, with 37 stops, including three tackles for loss, and also added one interception. As a junior, Haw led the Scarlet Knights and was tied for second in the BIG EAST with four interceptions.
Haw also scored two touchdowns as a senior. He returned an interception 61-yards for a score at Michigan State, and scooped up a blocked field goal and returned it 88 yards for a touchdown against Navy. He was named Co-Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against the Midshipmen.
Haw, of Cheverly, MD, earned All-State honors at cornerback at Fairmont Heights HS, leading the Hornets to an 8-2 record and a berth in the state playoffs. He also participated on the track team while at Rutgers.
Haw’s teammates, Nate Jones and Raheem Orr, were both selected in the seventh round of last weekend’s NFL draft. Jones, also a cornerback, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys, while Orr, a defensive end, was tabbed by the Houston Texans.
Haw will join another former teammate, L.J. Smith, on the Eagles. Smith, a
second-round pick of the Eagles in 2003 after an outstanding career at Rutgers,
caught 27 passes in his first season in the NFL, averaging 11.9 yards per reception.
