PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 13, 2014) – The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed former Rutgers football standout Marcus Thompson (Oakland Park, Fla.) to a free agent contract. Thompson was signed to play linebacker for the Dolphins after spending time both at linebacker and defensive end during his collegiate career “On the Banks.”
Thompson is the second Scarlet Knight on Miami’s roster, joining fellow Floridian Jonathan Freeny.
He is the second member from last season’s team to sign a free agent contract after the Philadelphia Eagles announced they signed former Rutgers wide receiver Quron Pratt over the weekend.
The Florida native started all 13 games in 2013 for the Scarlet Knights and led the team with 5.5 sacks. Thompson was named the team’s co-defensive MVP with Steve Longa at Rutgers’ year-end team awards banquet.
Thompson appeared in 42 games with 26 career starts over his four-year career in Piscataway.
