  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 22, 2014) – Rutgers will make its Big Ten debut on the gridiron under the lights as the Scarlet Knights host Penn State in primetime on Big Ten Network. Kickoff for the Sept. 13 matchup is set for 8 p.m. from High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway.

Rutgers has played Penn State 24 times, but the two schools have not played on Rutgers’ campus since 1955.  The two programs have not met since 1995 at Giants Stadium. In a series that began in 1918, the two schools met annually from 1982-95.

Rutgers’ second Big Ten game will also be in primetime on BTN on October 4 when Michigan makes its first visit to High Point Solutions Stadium. Kickoff against the Wolverines is set for 7 p.m.

Rutgers and Michigan have combined to play 2,555 college football games, but the two teams will meet for the first time in 2014. The Scarlet Knights have played more football games than any other member of the FBS (1,288) while Michigan ranks among the national leaders in games played in NCAA history with 1,267 games.

Additional television details and kickoff times will be announced at a later date.

The Scarlet Knights begin the 2014 season in Seattle against Washington State at the home field of the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink Field.

Forty-four letterwinners and 16 starters return for the Scarlet Knights in their inaugural Big Ten campaign in 2014. Season tickets are available by calling the Rutgers Ticket Office at 1-866-445-GORU or visiting ScarletKnights.com.
