Rutgers Football Lands 33 Student-Athletes on AAC All-Academic Team
Another Strong Academic Performance for the Football Team

  • PROVIDENCE, R.I. (February 25, 2014) – Thirty-three student-athletes from the Rutgers football team were named to the American All-Academic Football Team, the conference office announced. The number of honorees is up five from last season and ranked second in the conference.

    Six student-athletes were honored for the third time, including Taj Alexander (Downingtown, Pa.), Brandon Coleman (Accokeek, Md.)Chas Dodd (Lyman, S.C.)David Milewski (Sayreville, N.J.)Quron Pratt (Palmyra, N.J.) and Lorenzo Waters (Accokeek, Md.).

    A total of nine student-athletes were listed for the first time.

    To be nominated, a player must have a cumulative grade-pointindex of at least 3.0 and completed a minimum of two semesters of academic work.

    This is the latest academic honor for the football team under head coach Kyle Flood’s tenure. Forty-three players finished the 2013 fall semester with a cumulative gradepoint average of 3.0 or higher while 24 student-athletes earned Dean’s List honors during the fall semester with at least a 3.5 GPA.

    Three players earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester while the team grade point average of 2.96 was a record high for the team for the fourth consecutive semester.
