PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 23, 2013) – Rutgers head football coach Kyle Flood threw the ceremonial first pitch Friday, July 26 at Yankee Stadium, prior to game between the Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Flood led Rutgers to its first share of the BIG EAST Championship in 2012 as the Scarlet Knights finished the year 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the BIG EAST. The five wins in conference play tied a school record for single-season league victories while the nine wins by a first-year headcoach were the most ever by a rookie RU coach.
Rutgers has played two games at the current Yankee Stadium in 2011, defeating Army 27-12 and winning the New Era Pinstripe Bowl versus Iowa State, 27-13.
The Scarlet Knights report for the start of preseason camp Thursday, August 1 and hit the practice field for the first time Friday, August 2. Rutgers opens the 2013 season Thursday, August 29 at Fresno State (10:30 p.m., ESPNU).
