PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 16, 2013) – Rutgers junior wide receiver Brandon Coleman (Accokeek, Md.) has been named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, announced today by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc. Given annually to the outstanding receiver in college football, the award will be presented live on Dec. 12 on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
Coleman is coming off one of the best receiving seasons in Rutgers history in 2012, tying a school record with 10 touchdown grabs. The 2012 All-BIG EAST Second Team selection led the team with 718 receiving yards last season and ranks tied for fifth on the school’s all-time list with 16 career touchdown catches. The Accokeek, Md., native was tabbed a Preseason Third Team All-American by Sporting News and a Preseason All-American Athletic Conference First Team selection by Phil Steele and Athlon.
The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, made up of more than 200 prominent college football journalists, commentators and former receivers. The TQC, the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the award, will announce the 10 semifinalists on Nov. 18 following a vote by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Three finalists will be declared following another vote on Nov. 25.
Rutgers returns 14 starters and 43 letterwinners for 2013 and opens the season at Fresno State on Aug. 29 at 10:30 p.m. ET. The Scarlet Knights open their home schedule on Sept. 7, taking on Norfolk State at noon.
