    PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 26, 2013) – Rutgers junior cornerback Logan Ryan (Berlin, N.J.) was selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots Friday evening. Ryan joins former Rutgers teammates Devin McCourty and Justin Francis with the Patriots in Foxboro.

    In the 2012 NFL Draft, Mohamed Sanu was also selected with the 83rd pick in the draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

    Ryan had a monster junior season for one of the nation’s top defensive units. Ryan started all 13 games in 2012, totaling 94 tackles, 17 pass breakups and four interceptions.

    2010: Appeared in 11 games at cornerback … nine tackles on the year … made collegiate debut vs. Norfolk State (9/2) … first career start at FIU (9/11) … career-best two tackles vs. Tulane (10/2) and at USF (11/3) … member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Football Team.

    Prior to Rutgers: Played for head coach Dan Spittal at Eastern High School ... rated the No. 1 cornerback in New Jersey by Rivals.com … ranked overall as the No. 9 prospect in New Jersey by Rivals.com and the No. 15 cornerback prospect nationally by ESPN.comSuperPrep Magazine’s No. 13 prospect in New Jersey … starred at both quarterback and cornerback on a 7-3 Eastern HS team, throwing for 1,070 yards and eight touchdowns and rushing for 699 yards and nine touchdowns while running a spread offense … also tallied 43 tackles, two tackles-for-loss and five interceptions in earning South Jersey Player of the Year Defensive honors from the Philadelphia Inquirer … over his final two scholastic campaigns, Ryan threw for more than 2,500 yards and accounted for 35 total touchdowns in guiding Eastern to a 16-5 record and consecutive state playoff berths ... born 2/9/91 ...  a Labor Studies major.
