There were five former Rutgers football players on NFL rosters spanning three playoff teams in the NFL Divisional Playoffs. The Ravens and the Patriots each had two Scarlet Knights on their roster.

All five players and their teams came out victorious in the divisional round. Four former Scarlet Knights will be on a roster in the AFC Championship game, while right tackle Anthony Davis will start for the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. Rutgers is guaranteed to have a former student-athlete in the Super Bowl, as each team in the AFC title matchup has two former RU players.

Anthony Davis (2007-09), OT, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 45, Green Bay 31
The starting right tackle helped the 49ers to 323 yards rushing in the game, including 181 from quarterback Colin Kaepernick and 119 from running back Frank Gore. San Francisco rushed for four touchdowns. Davis also contributed in pass blocking, protecting Kaepernick, who threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns.

Justin Francis (2007-11), DL, New England Patriots
    New England 41, Houston 28
Played most of the game on the defensive line and recorded one tackle and a QB hit in the 13-point win over the Texans.

Devin McCourty (2005-09), DB, New England Patriots
    New England 41, Houston 28
The safety finished tied for third on the team with seven tackles, including six solo. He also returned two kickoffs for a total of 32 yards and saved a touchdown on kickoff coverage as he ran down the Texans’ kick returner for the tackle.

Ray Rice (2005-07), RB, Baltimore Ravens
    Baltimore 38, Denver 35 (2OT)
Carried the ball 30 times for 131 yards, both season highs. The running back also found the end zone in the third quarter, punching it in from one yard out to tie the game heading into the fourth quarter.

Alex Silvestro (2007-10), TE, Baltimore Ravens
    Baltimore 38, Denver 35 (2OT)
The tight end was signed to the practice squad on Nov. 7.
