PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 6, 2012) – Rutgers senior linebacker Khaseem Greene (Elizabeth, N.J.) was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team Thursday evening. Greene was named a Second Team All-America on the nation’s oldest All-America team, now in its 123rd year.

It was a big day on the awards circuit for Greene as he was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year earlier in the day. Greene was the second player in BIG EAST history to win the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons, joining Corey Moore of Virginia Tech (1998, 1999).

Greene led Rutgers with 125 tackles and six forced fumbles to lead the nation’s No. 4 ranked scoring defense. He finished with 5.5 sacks and two interceptions from his weakside linebacker position.

The Elizabeth native is fifth in school history with 376 career tackles.

He is the fourth Scarlet Knight to earn a spot on the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team. Running back Ray Rice was a two-time Second Team All-America selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation in 2006 and 2007 while tight end Marco Battaglia was a Walter Camp Football Foundation First Team All-America honoree in 1995. The most recent Scarlet Knight to be named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America team was offensive tackle Anthony Davis in 2009.

Rutgers finishes the 2012 season with its seventh bowl appearance in the last eight years at the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando. Kickoff between Rutgers and Virginia Tech is set for Friday, December 28 at 5:30 p.m. from the Florida Citrus Bowl.

Rutgers fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets through Rutgers for the best seating options available for the game. Tickets for the Russell Athletic Bowl are available online (http://RutgersBowl.com), by phone (1-866-455-GORU) and in-person at the Rutgers Ticket Office during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.). Ticket prices range from $72-77.

All seats will be allocated in Priority Point order. The deadline to place an order to qualify for the Priority Point process is December 7. All orders placed after that date will receive best available remaining inventory.

These bonus priority points will be added to totals helping to determine 2013 football seating/parking and 2013-14 basketball seating/parking, as well as 2013 postseason ticket availability and access to other limited events. Please note, bonus points will not carry over and will reset following the priority point deadline of June 30.
