CHICAGO (Oct. 1, 2012) – Rutgers football senior wide receiver Mark Harrison (Stratford, Conn.) had been nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year for his one-handed, game-clinching touchdown catch at Arkansas on September 22, Intersport announced Monday. Each week, fans vote for the GEICO Play of the Year and the winner will be announced on GEICO Best of College Football 2012 on CBS, Friday, Nov. 23 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Leading by two points midway through the final quarter over the Razorbacks, Gary Nova (Elmwood Park, N.J.) launched a pass to the streaking Harrison. He was well guarded but managed to free one arm and use it to catch and control the ball while fighting off his defender with the other. The 60-yard touchdown sealed the road win for the 4-0 Scarlet Knights.
Harrison’s touchdown catch is competing against three other plays from Week Four: a juke-filled punt return by South Carolina’s Ace Sanders, a back-of-the-end zone grab by Alabama’s Cameron Morgan and a game-winning overtime snag by Wyoming Jalen Claiborne.
