PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 9, 2012) – Rutgers and Kansas have agreed to a two-game series on the gridiron, both schools announced Thursday. Rutgers hosts Kansas at High Point Solutions Stadium on Saturday, September 26, 2015 while the Scarlet Knights make the return trip to Memorial Stadium in Lawrence on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
It will mark the first meeting between the two schools in 2015 at High Point Solutions Stadium.
“We are excited about our new series with the Kansas Jayhawks in 2015 and 2018 and bringing our fans another great non-conference opponent at High Point Solutions Stadium,” said Tim Pernetti, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. “We remain hard at work everyday on football scheduling to do whatever it takes to deliver an exciting slate of future games for all of our great Rutgers Football fans.”
With the addition of a home-and-home series with the Jayhawks, Rutgers has home-and-home contests scheduled against BCS opponents in five of the next six seasons. Rutgers fans coming to High Point Solutions Stadium over the next six years get to see matchups vs. the SEC (Arkansas, 2013), Big 10 (Penn State, 2014), Big 12 (Kansas, 2015), Pac-12 (UCLA, 2016) and ACC (Miami, 2018).
The 2015 schedule includes two non-conference BCS opponents in back-to-back weeks. The Scarlet Knights visit Penn State on September 19 and host the Jayhawks the following week. In 2018, RU faces Kansas and Miami inconsecutive weeks.
