November-10-03 Noon Kickoffs Set for Final Two Regular Season Football Games
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Kickoff times have been set for the Rutgers football team’s final two regular season games. Both the Scarlet Knights’ game at Miami on Nov. 22, and their Nov. 29 home finale at Rutgers Stadium vs. Syracuse, will begin at noon.

November-08-03 Late-Game Miscue Lifts Connecticut Past Rutgers, 38-31
EAST HARTFORD, CT - With the score tied at 31-31 and just over 1:00 left in the game, junior Tres Moses mishandled a punt near his own goal line, which Connecticut recovered and converted into the game-deciding touchdown three plays later for a stunning, 38-31 victory on Senior Day at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Rutgers built a 17-7 lead, but engaged in a see-saw battle during the second half of play that produced arguably the most exciting, and most frustrating, game of the season.

October-29-03 Nate Jones Earns Prestigious National Scholar-Athlete Award
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Senior Nate Jones (Scotch Plains, NJ) is one of eight Division I-A members named to College Football’s 2003 National Scholar-Athlete Class, as selected by The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Jones, a starting cornerback and kick returner for the Scarlet Knights, will receive an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship.

October-27-03 Hart Earns BIG EAST Football Weekly Honors
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Sophomore quarterback Ryan Hart (Coral Springs, FL) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 26. Hart shares the award with WVU’s Quincy Wilson and is the fourth Rutgers played to be honored by the league this season.

October-25-03 Hart and Leonard Lead Rutgers Past Temple 30-14
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Sophomore quarterback Ryan Hart became the first Rutgers quarterback in school history to throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games today as he completed 30-of-42 passes for 316 yards and one touchdown to lead the Scarlet Knights to a 30-14 win over Temple at Lincoln Financial Field.

October-18-03 Comeback Falls Short as Rutgers Falls to Pittsburgh 42-32
PISCATAWAY, NJ -- Rutgers scored 25-consecutive points in the second half, but it was not enough as Pittsburgh held off the Scarlet Knights, 42-32, in front of 28,101 on Homecoming at Rutgers Stadium. The Panthers held a 42-7 halftime lead, but Rutgers showed resilience in defeat, allowing just 67 yards and no points in the second half.

October-11-03 Rutgers Falls at West Virginia 34-19
MORGANTOWN, WV - Quincy Wilson ran for three touchdowns to lead West Virginia to a 34-19 victory over Rutgers on Saturday at Mountaineer Stadium.

October-04-03 #4 Virginia Tech Defeats Rutgers in BIG EAST Opener, 48-22
PISCATAWAY, NJ -- Despite a fourth quarter comback attempt, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-2) lost to #4 Virginia Tech, 44-28 in front of 28,956 at Rutgers Stadium. The Scarlet Knights got out to an early 7-0 lead, but were unable to contain the Hokie offense the rest of the game. Rutgers did not go down without a fight, however, as the Scarlet Knights managed to score 15 points in :18 in the fourth quarter. The barrage was not enough, as Virginia Tech held off Rutgers the rest of the game to secure the victory. Rutgers was led by running back Brian Leonard (Gouverneur, NY) who recorded 106 all-purpose yards, including 76 on the ground.

September-29-03 Hairston, Haw Earn Share of BIG EAST Weekly Awards
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Freshman running back Justise Hairston (New Britain, CT) and senior cornerback Brandon Haw (Cheverly, MD) have earned BIG EAST weekly awards for the week ending Sunday, September 28. Hairston was named BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Haw earned Co-Special Teams Player of the Week honors. It is the first BIG EAST award for both players.

September-29-03 Rutgers Football vs. West Virginia, Boston College Added to TV Lineup
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The BIG EAST Conference announced today that Rutgers game at West Virginia on Saturday, October 11, will serve as the BIG EAST Game of the Week and be broadcast by ESPN Regional. The game can be seen locally on WWOR, Channel 9, with kickoff set for 12:00 noon.
