Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski announced the 2006 Semifinalists for the 70th Maxwell Award for the Collegiate Player of the Year, the 12th Chuck Bednarik Award for the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year, and the 18th George Munger Award for College Coach of the Year. The respective lists include a field of 15 candidates for each of these awards as selected by the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rutgers University running back Ray Rice earned his third BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honor this season when the conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday. Rice was also named The Sporting News College Football Player of the Week for his career day in the win over Pitt.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Ray Rice's 63-yard run set up his own short touchdown run in the fourth quarter immediately after Pittsburgh had closed to within three points, and the No. 19 Scarlet Knights won their first big test of the season by beating the Panthers 20-10 Saturday.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Tickets for the Louisville game on Nov. 9 and the Syracuse game on Nov. 25 are sold out to the general public, with student tickets only remaining for both BIG EAST contests, Rutgers announced on Tuesday. It marks the first time in school history Rutgers will have two advance sell outs in the same year.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers is ranked No. 19 in this week’s USA Today/Coaches Top 25 and Associated Press Top 25 rankings after the Scarlet Knights posted a 34-0 shutout victory at Navy last Saturday. The Scarlet Knights were last ranked in the nation’s top 20 on Jan. 4, 1977 at No. 17 in both the coaches’ and Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – ESPN2 and the BIG EAST Conference announced Saturday evening that the Oct. 21 Rutgers-Pittsburgh game will be televised live to a national audience on ESPN2. Kickoff from Heinz Field is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — No. 24 Rutgers improved to 6-0, becoming bowl eligible the earliest in a season in school history with a 34-0 shutout over Navy (5-2) at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium Saturday afternoon.
