October-17-06 Louisville, Syracuse Games Sold Out
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Tickets for the Louisville game on Nov. 9 and the Syracuse game on Nov. 25 are sold out to the general public, with student tickets only remaining for both BIG EAST contests, Rutgers announced on Tuesday. It marks the first time in school history Rutgers will have two advance sell outs in the same year.

The Scarlet Knights were last ranked in the nation’s top 20 on Jan. 4, 1977 at No. 17 in both the coaches’ and Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

NEW HAVEN, CT – The Walter Camp Football Foundation named Rutgers senior defensive tackle Ramel Meekins (Westwood, N.J.) its Division 1-A National Defensive Player of the Week for games ending October 14. Meekins also earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – ESPN2 and the BIG EAST Conference announced Saturday evening that the Oct. 21 Rutgers-Pittsburgh game will be televised live to a national audience on ESPN2. Kickoff from Heinz Field is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The two newest members of the Rutgers Football Hall of Fame, wide receiver Chris Brantley (1990-93) and kicker Alex Falcinelli (1980-82) will be inducted during ceremonies at halftime when the Scarlet Knights host Connecticut on Oct. 29 at Rutgers Stadium.

October-02-06 Rice, Ito Garner BIG EAST Weekly Honors
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rutgers sophomore tailback Ray Rice (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and junior place-kicker Jeremy Ito (Loma Linda, Calif.) collected weekly awards from the BIG EAST Conference on Monday. Rice was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after 202 rushing yards and two touchdowns at South Florida while Ito was named the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week for his three field goals vs. the Bulls.

TAMPA, FL - Sophomore running back and Heisman Trophy candidate Ray Rice rushed for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead No. 23 Rutgers to its first 5-0 start since 1976 with a 22-20 victory over USF at Raymond James Stadium Friday night.

September-24-06 Rutgers Ranked 23rd in Both National Football Polls
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the first time since 1976, Rutgers is ranked in this week's Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today/Coaches Top 25 at No. 23. The Scarlet Knights, who were last ranked 17th in the final AP Poll in 1976 after finishing the season a perfect 11-0, received 124 points in this week's USA Today/Coaches' Poll and 117 points in the AP rankings.
