May-03-07 8th Annual Rusty Swartz Scholarship Concert Set for May 19 in Edison
EDISON, N.J. – The eighth annual concert to benefit the Rusty Swartz Memorial Scholarship Fund will feature Shirley Alston Reeves, the one-time lead singer of the Shirelles, who put out chart-topping hits like “Soldier Boy” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” The concert will be held on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 8:00 pm Edison High School. The Rusty Swartz Memorial Scholarship provides financial aid to student-athletes from New Jersey who are members of the Rutgers University football team. Rusty Swartz was a Rutgers University football letter winner who graduated in 1997, and died tragically in a boating accident in September of 1999. The Rusty Swartz Memorial Scholarship Fund continues to be funded by family, friends, teammates, and fans as a means of recognizing and remembering the impact he had on the many lives he touched. Also appearing with Reeves at the scholarship concert will be Butch Barbella’s Street of the Bronx Band, and the Magic of Constantine. The evening will be hosted by Vince DeAndrea. May-02-07 Porter, Roberson Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Joe Porter (Franklin, N.J.) and Derrick Roberson (Oakland Park, Fla.) have signed NFL free agent contracts. Porter inked a free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints while Roberson signed with the Houston Texans. The two defensive backs join five other Scarlet Knights from last season's 11-2 squad that finished ranked 12th in both polls who were drafted or have signed NFL free agent contracts.

April-29-07 Meekins, Stapleton Ink NFL Free Agent Contracts
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Ramel Meekins (Westwood, N.J.) and Darnell Stapleton (Union, N.J.) have agreed to free agent contracts with NFL teams today. Meekins signed with the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts while Stapleton agreed to terms with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

April-29-07 Stephenson, Harris Selected in 2007 NFL Draft
NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 29, 2007) – Cameron Stephenson (Inglewood, Calif.) was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round and Clark Harris (Manahawkin, N.J.) was taken in the seventh round by the Green Bay Packers in the 2007 NFL Draft Sunday. In all, three Rutgers players were selected in the 2007 NFL Draft after the St. Louis Rams drafted Brian Leonard (Gouverneur, N.Y.) in the second round on Saturday.
