Devin Fitzsimmons started in the role of offensive assistant for Rutgers football in 2012. The former tight ends coach at Richmond spent the 2011 season in the National Football League with the Indianapolis Colts as an offensive quality control assistant. Fitzsimmons coached the Spiders’ tight ends during the 2010 season.
Fitzsimmons made previous graduate assistant stops at Virginia (2009) and Kansas State (2007-08). He worked with the Wildcats’ offense and current Rutgers offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Dave Brock during the 2007 season. He served as coordinator of football operations for KSU in 2008.
Fitzsimmons served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Bucknell, in 2006, working with the wide receivers. He spent the previous season coaching quarterbacks at Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C.
A native of New Orleans, La., Fitzsimmons played quarterback and wide receiver for the Bison. In 2004, he won the Bucknell Football Moxie Award for special contributions to the program. He graduated in 2005 with a degree in history and a minor in religion.
