Seventeen Field Hockey Players named to Big East All-Academic Team

  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 31, 2014) –The All-Big East Academic Team was announced on Thursday, with 67 Rutgers student-athletes from three sports recognized. Overall 2,091 honorees from the conference’s 10 member institutions and five affiliates were recognized.

    The field hockey team was represented with 17 players selected. The Scarlet Knights finished last season with a 9-9 mark, the best winning percentage for the program since 2008. The squad also posted a perfect 1000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) in 2012-13. Entering the Big Ten Conference this season, the Scarlet Knights will open the year against Bucknell on August 29.

    To be named to the all-academic team, a nominee must have competed in a Big East-sponsored sport, attained a minimum GPA of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
