PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Sept. 2, 2013) – Rutgers field hockey junior Sophie Wright (Devizes, United Kingdom) was named to the first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the season, the conference announced Monday.

Wright posted two goals on the weekend, leaving her tied for the team lead with four points. The junior provided a spark for the Scarlet Knights against No. 19 Boston College (Aug. 31), scoring for RU in a close 2-1 loss. Wright also found the back of the cage at Vermont (Sept. 1), helping Rutgers to a 5-2 victory.

This is Wright’s second BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection of her career. The first came on Oct. 23, 2012 after she notched a goal at Providence (Oct. 19, 2012).

Rutgers returns to action with its home opener on Friday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. against La Salle at the Bauer Track and Field Complex.
