PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 24, 2012) – The Rutgers field hockey team (8-9, 2-4 BIG EAST) plays its final two contests of the season this weekend with a home-and-away split.
RU first heads to College Park, Md., on Friday, Oct. 26 for a 7 p.m. matchup with the No. 6 Terrapins. The Scarlet Knights then return home to Bauer Track and Field Complex to face Columbia for senior day on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. Seven seniors will be honored for their accomplishments as part of the Rutgers field hockey program.
The last time Rutgers saw Maryland (13-4) on the turf was in 2011 when RU dropped a 5-0 decision against the then-No.3 Terrapins. Friday’s match will be the Terrapins’ final home game of the regular season and will honor their seniors for their dedication to the Maryland field hockey program.
In Sunday’s action with nonconference opponent Columbia, Rutgers will return home to conclude the 2012 regular season. Rutgers owns a 5-3 all-time record over Columbia, and the squads last met in 2011 when the Scarlet Knights traveled to the Baker Athletics Complex. In last season’s contest, RU dropped the match, 2-1, with the lone goal for Rutgers coming from the hands of current senior Scarlet Knight Cornelia Duffin (Moorestown, N.J.).
