PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 10, 2012) – The Rutgers field hockey squad takes the turf on Friday, Oct. 12 for a 3 p.m. BIG EAST matchup against Louisville. RU will then head down to Easton, Pa. to face Lafayette at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Rutgers is 0-7 all-time against conference foe Louisville. The last time the two met on the field was on Oct. 8, 2011 at Louisville when the Cardinals were ranked 20th nationally. The game resulted in a 4-2 defeat for the Scarlet Knights.
Junior forward Lisa Patrone (Washington Township, N.J.) has proven to be a vital piece of the Scarlet Knights success in the 2012 season. She grabbed a hat trick against Georgetown, marking her first of the season and of her career. Her six-point performance earned Patrone BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors. With eight goals and 19 points in the 2012 season, Patrone has blown out her career goals (5), and has passed her career points mark (16).
In addition to Patrone’s hat trick, freshman Alyssa Bull (Oakville, Ontario) recorded two goals against Georgetown, bringing her goal total to four and her point total to 12, good for second on the team. Sophomore Jenn Staab (Marmora, N.J.) passed in two assists, and senior Chelsea Rota (Langhorne, Pa.) recorded her fourth assist of the season.
RU holds an 18-14-1 record over nonconference opponent Lafayette. The last matchup was on Oct. 16, 2011 which left Rutgers defeated, 2-1, with the lone score coming from current Scarlet Knight Rota.
