  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 27, 2012) –  Rutgers field hockey continues their homestand at the Bauer Track & Field Complex this weekend as they host Villanova and Bucknell. RU (5-5) and BIG EAST foe Villanova (4-5) will face off on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 12 p.m.  The Scarlet Knights meet the Bison (5-5) on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. This game will be featured on RVision, presented by AT&T, via tape-delay on http://www.ScarletKnights.com.

RU dropped its contest against No. 2 Syracuse last Friday, 6-0. The Scarlet Knights answered in Sunday's matchup with a 4-3 overtime victory against Cornell. In the game against Cornell, Rutgers senior Christie Lonsky (Dingman’s Ferry, Pa.) led the way for the Scarlet Knights with two goals, including the game winner in overtime. Sophie Wright (Devizes, United Kingdom) and Lisa Patrone (Washington Township, N.J.) each contributed a goal on the day.

The match against Villanova marks the third game of BIG EAST play for the Scarlet Knights. Sophomore forward Leah High (Green Lane, PA) currently leads Villanova with five goals, including one game winner. She has also recorded two assists on the year for a total of twelve points, to lead the Wildcats.

Villanova holds a 18-13-1 all-time record against Rutgers. The teams last met on Sept. 24, 2011, when RU fell by a score of 2-1.

Bucknell enters the weekend on a three game skid, after losses last weekend to No. 17 Michigan and Temple. Senior Taylor Siegrist (Madison, N.J.) is leading the Bison in both goals (six) and points (sixteen). She notched two goals in Bucknell’s 5-4 loss to Temple.

The Scarlet Knights last faced the Bison on Sept. 25, 2011, which resulted in a 3-1 victory for RU.

The Saturday game will be a Red Alert Match, where the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will donate $1 to the Orangutan Foundation International for every student-athlete in attendance. The OFI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wild orangutans and their rainforest habitat.
