PC’s Jennifer Chin put the Friars on the board 1:46 into the match with a penalty corner goal, assisted by Lyndsey Brooks. The Scarlet Knight defense kept the Friars scoreless for the remainder of the half with junior goalkeeper Stacey Gaenzle (Lancaster, PA) making five saves.
Providence doubled its lead when Kelly Romanowicz dished the ball to Amy Phillips, making the score 2-0. The Friars scored the final goal of the afternoon when Katie Kelly dribbled in from the top of the circle and slipped the ball past Gaenzle to give Providence the 3-0 conference win.
Meaghan Moran made four saves in goal for Providence. Gaenzle finished the afternoon with seven saves, while junior back Julie Speckels (Los Altos, CA) made two defensive saves. Speckels now leads the team with six, tying her 2001 mark. Speckels is again tied for sixth on the single-season defensive saves list and moves into sole possession of third place on the career chart with 12.
