CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Boston College scored two first half goals en rout to a 3-1 triumph over Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 24, at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, MA. With the loss, Rutgers falls to 7-11 overall and finishes its BIG EAST slate with a 2-3 record. Boston College improves to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the BIG EAST.
The Eagles struck first 11 minutes into the first period, as Kim French scored off a feed from Virginia Drozd. Boston College added an insurance goal with seven minutes remaining in the first half as Sara York netted the first of two goals on the evening. York leads the BIG EAST in goals (16) and points (32).
Rutgers did not go down without a fight, however. Kamilah Lalani (West Vancouver, BC) scored her fifth goal of the season, taking a pass from Mary Szymonowicz (Piscataway, NJ) to cut the Boston College lead to 3-1 with 11:00 remaining.
In goal, Aga Siemiginowska (Winchester, MA) made a career-high 11 saves.
Rutgers concludes its regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when it takes on Hofstra in Hemstead, NY, at 7:00 p.m. The Scarlet Knights will then wait for the BIG EAST Conference to announce its official pairings and determine who it will play in the BIG EAST Tournament, held Nov. 7-9 in Chestnut Hill, MA.
