EASTON, PA – The Rutgers University field hockey team began a three-game road trip to end its regular season with a 2-0 setback to Lafayette on Wednesday evening in Easton, PA. With the loss, Rutgers falls to 7-10 overall.
Lafayette (11-6) scored both of its goals in the first half, as Melissa Farrand netted an unassisted goal four minutes into regulation. Two minutes later, freshman Jenna Bratz scored off a feed from Meredith Hahn to give the Leopards a 2-0 advantage.
For Rutgers, Jennifer Noon (Shavertown, PA) had five shots on goal, while Mary Szymonowicz (Piscataway, NJ) added four. RU held an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners, but was outshot 18-12, including 6-3 in the second half.
In goal, Meris Burton (Wilmington, DE) started for the first time in nearly two weeks after recovering from an injury to post seven saves. Aga Siemiginowska (Winchester, MA) played the final 13:23 of regulation and made one save.
The Scarlet Knights are back in action on Friday, Oct. 24, when they travel to face Boston College in their final BIG EAST game of the regular season.
