LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rutgers University women’s cross country team earned its first team victory of the season, scoring 18 points to win the Bronc Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, on the campus of Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Marist finished second with 42 points, followed by Rider in third with 93 and Seton Hall in fourth with 101 points.
The Scarlet Knights recorded seven of the top 10 fastest times on the course, as freshmen Cheyenne Ogletree (Garfield, NJ) and Alison Caruana (Succasunna, NJ) and senior Nicole Lombardy (Lincroft, NJ) finished in the top three spots. Ogletree was the overall winner with a time of 18:42.20, followed by Caruana in second at 18:45.10 and Lombardy finished third in 18:49.50.
Senior Maria Pavkovitch (Garfield, NJ) took fifth in 18:59.80 and junior Leslie Holleran (Howell, NJ) was seventh in 19:24.30. Junior Nova Roman (Monroe Twp., NJ) was ninth, clocking a time of 19:37.60, sophomore Alexis Gray (Toms River, NJ) rounded out the top ten in 19:41.10.
Other finishes for the Scarlet Knights included, juniors Danielle Patoir (Glen Rock, NJ) in 11th (19:45.40), Stephanie Zottoli (Old Bridge, NJ) in 13th (19:51.00) and Marissa DeTata (Brick, NJ) in 18th (20:15.60), while sophomore Alisa Budd (Toms River, NJ) finished in 23rd place with a time of 20:40.80.
“We had a really good meet,” said head coach Roberta Anthes. “Our pack is starting to run closer and we were able to win the meet with really good times.”
