Women’s Cross Country Finishes Ninth at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

STATE COLLEGE, PA – The Rutgers women’s cross country team concluded the season with a ninth place finish at the 2004 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, Nov. 13 in State College, PA. The Scarlet Knights were one of 24 teams to participate in this weekend’s event.

Leading the way for RU was senior Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ), who placed 17th in a field of 162 runners. DeJesus completed the course in 21:50, followed by junior Sarah Peterson (Belle Mead) in 42nd place with a time of 22:35.

Other top finisher for the Scarlet Knights were senior Amonica Phipps (Amherst, VA) who finished 67th overall in 23:08, junior Nicole Lombardy (Lincroft, NJ) in 77th place (23:24) and sophomore Nova Roman (Monroe Twp., NJ) took 78th, clocking 23:24.

West Virginia won the women’s event, scoring 63 points, while Villanova finished second with 68 and Princeton took third with 83 points.
