RU Men and Women Place Ninth at BIG EAST Cross Country Championships

BOSTON, MA – Both the women’s and men’s cross country teams finished ninth at the 2004 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, MA, on Friday, Oct. 29.

On the women’s side, senior Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ) led the Scarlet Knights, finishing 31st overall (22:04), followed by juniors Sarah Peterson (Belle Mead, NJ) and Nicole Lombardi (Lincroft, NJ), who placed 43rd (22:34) and 50th (22:57), respectively. Sophomore Nova Roman (Monroe Twp., NJ) was among the other top finishers for RU, along with senior Amonica Phipps (Amherst, VA). Roman clocked a time of 23:27 to place 64th overall, while Phipps finished 69th (23:35).

Providence won the women’s event, scoring 42 points, while Notre Dame finished second with 67 and Villanova took third with 84 points.

For the men, junior Ambar Patel (Lake Hiawatha, NJ) led the way, finishing 64th overall (26:04), followed by sophomores Milo Schwab (Highland Park, NJ) in 66th place (26:20) and Bill Hulbert (North Tonawanda, NY) in 67th place (26:22).

Other top finishers for RU were senior Mike Redden (South Orange, NJ) and sophomore Jerry Boucicaut (Paterson, NJ). Redden took 71st place, completing the course in 26:35, while Bouciacut finished closely behind in 72nd place, clocking a time of 26:35.

Notre Dame won the men’s event with 47 points, followed by Georgetown and Providence with 48 and 52 points, respectively.
