BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rutgers women’s cross country team competed in the 31st annual Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Saturday, Sept. 25. The Scarlet Knights were one of 26 teams to participate in this weekend’s event.
Junior Sarah Peterson (Belle Mead, NJ) finished 34th out of 175 competitors in a time of 21:54.48 to lead RU. Other Scarlet Knights to factor in the scoring were senior Belmax DeJesus (Fort Lee, NJ) who finished 51st (22:10.48), junior Nicole Lombardy (Lincroft, NJ) in 70th (22:31.52), senior Amonica Phipps (Amherst, VA) finished in 84th (22:48.00), and sophomore Nova Roman (Monroe Twp., NJ) finished in 91st place (22:53.98). Rutgers secured its 14th place finish with a total of 330 team points.
Tennessee won the event with 53 points, followed by Villanova and Columbia with 87 and 89, respectively.
The Scarlet Knights will compete next on Friday, Oct. 1, at the Penn State Invite.
