PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 12, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s cross country team was honored by the USTFCCCA by earning Division I All-Academic Cross Country status.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship. The Scarlet Knights posted a 3.328 cumulative GPA, the highest GPA of all of the nine BIG EAST teams represented.
Members of the 2012 team included: junior Chris Banafato (Bridgewater, N.J.), freshman Jeff Bash (Atco, N.J.), senior Thomas Bragen (Point Pleasant, N.J.), junior Steve Burkholder (Marlton, N.J.), sophomore Chris Defabio (Millington, N.J.), sophomore Anthony Horten (Moorestown, N.J.), freshman Daniel Lee (Plainsboro, N.J.), junior Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.), freshman Jaimin Vekaria (Clinton, N.J.), senior Casey Weiss (Newfoundland, N.J.) and sophomore Brian Wells (Piscataway, N.J.).
