PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 14, 2012) – The Rutgers men’s cross country team is set to compete in the 104th IC4A Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the Bronx, N.Y. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. in Van Cortlandt Park, and marks the Scarlet Knights’ final meet of the 2012 campaign
RU finished eighth out of 16 teams in last year’s meet. Junior Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.) placed highest among members of the current roster, finishing 52nd in the five-mile course with a time of 27:20. Sophomore Chris Defabio (Millington, N.J.) placed just behind Richburg with a 54th-place finish, clocking in at 27:27. Junior Steven Burkholder (Marlton, N.J.) and senior Tom Bragen (Point Pleasant, N.J.) rounded out the top finishers for the Scarlet Knights, finishing in 59th (27:35) and 60th (27:38) place, respectively.
The squad enters the race having last competed in the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 26. RU finished 11th out of 14 teams in the meet, as junior Chris Banafato (Bridgewater, N.J.) and Defabio led the team with 50th and 57th-place finishes, respectively.
