PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 14, 2011) – Rutgers men’s cross country wrapped up competition at the 2011 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Saturday, finishing 18th in the team standings.
Rutgers collected 519 points on the 10K course en route to the 18th-place showing. The Scarlet Knights were led by sophomore Chris Banafato (Bridgewater, N.J.) who finished 106th in 33:11.2, while freshman Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) was close behind, clocking a time of 33:15.5 to take 108th place. RU also received points from freshman Casey Weiss (Newfoundland, N.J.), sophomore Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.) and senior Ben Forrest (Jackson, N.J.). Weiss placed 112th in 33:19.6, followed by Richburg in 116th (33:24.5) and Forrest in 120th (33:25.9).
Rounding out the Scarlet Knight runners were sophomore Steve Burkholder (Marlton, N.J.) and junior Thomas Bragen (Point Pleasant, N.J.). Burkholder finished 128th with a time of 33:40.9 and Bragen placed 156th in 34:51.5.
