PISCATAWAY, NJ – Former Rutgers women’s basketball standout Tammy Sutton-Brown (’01) will return to the tri-state area this week as her Charlotte Sting take on the New York Liberty Friday, July 18, at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m., and the game will be aired locally on the MSG Network.
Sutton-Brown is in her third season with the Sting, averaging 9.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. A 2002 WNBA All-Star, the 6-4 center ranks fourth in the league in blocked shots per game.
In addition to the game, Sutton-Brown will join teammates Dawn Staley and Andrea Stinson at the NBA Store at 1:30 p.m. on July 18 to discuss the season with fans. The NBA Store is located at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street.
Sutton-Brown averaged 9.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during her career “On the Banks,” helping the Scarlet Knights reach four consecutive NCAA Tournaments, including the 2000 Final Four. She ranks third in field-goal percentage (.577), fourth in blocked shots (148), sixth in free throws attempted (494), seventh in free throws made (304), 12th in rebounding (685) and 15th in scoring (1,246) on the RU career charts.
