Pondexter, a sophomore 5-9 guard, played in just one tournament game, but provided an impressive performance, scoring a tournament single-game high 30 points on 12-for-19 (.632) shooting, adding six rebounds, eight assists and four steals in RU’s quarterfinal game against Miami.
Prior to the tournament, Pondexter was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team. In addition, she was the first rookie in BIG EAST history to earn a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team after averaging 17.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game during the regular season.
The No. 23/23 Scarlet Knights (20-7, 13-3 BIG EAST) await the announcement of the 64-team field for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Those selections will be released live on ESPN at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16.
