  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior forward Michelle Campbell (Princeton, NJ) put together another outstanding game, recording a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, as the Scarlet Knights defeated the West Coast All-Stars 74-59 in their final exhibition game on Thursday evening at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

Rutgers’ freshmen played a key role in the victory, led by guard Tudy Reed (Chicago, IL) with a team-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and two steals in 27 minutes of action. Backcourt mate Matee Ajavon (Newark, NJ) made her presence felt in the starting lineup with eight points, a game-high seven assists and three steals. Guard Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) also chipped in six points and two steals.

Guards Nikki Jett (Columbia, SC) and Chelsea Newton (Monroe, LA) rounded out RU’s four double-digit scorers, with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Scarlet Knights shot 56 percent (30-54) from the field, while holding the West Coast All-Stars to 36 percent (21-58).

Denise King of the West Coast All-Stars led all scorers with 25 points, while former Rutgers standout Mauri Horton chipped in six points and eight rebounds in her return to the RAC.
