  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 11, 2014) --  Tickets for the 2014-15 Rutgers women’s basketball season are now on sale as the Scarlet Knights revealed their 2014-15 nonconference schedule on Monday. Included on the slate are home dates with Tennessee and North Carolina, as well as road games at LSU and Arkansas.

A total of six nonconference games will be played at the RAC this winter. In addition to RU hosting the Lady Vols and Tar Heels, the Scarlet Knights will also square off against second round NCAA Tournament participant, St. Joseph’s, as well as Northeastern, Colgate and Davidson.

Road games this season will include trips to LSU, a squad that reached the “Sweet 16” a year ago, WNIT participant Iona, as well as Temple and Wagner.

The 2014-15 slate kicks off with a pair of home games as the season gets underway on Friday, Nov. 14 with St. Joseph’s followed by a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18 with Northeastern.

Rutgers meets the Hawks for the first time since 2008. St. Joseph’s reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, downing Georgia, 67-57, in first round action.

RU and Northeastern, meanwhile, collide for the second straight season after a 65-51 Scarlet Knight victory in Boston in which rising senior Betnijah Laney (Clayton, Del.) and rising junior Kahleah Copper (Philadelphia, Pa.) both notched double-doubles.

RU hits the road to meet LSU on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Wagner on Tuesday, Nov. 25, meeting both squads for the second consecutive season.

The Scarlet Knights and Tigers tussled in last season’s Barclay’s Center Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament in Brooklyn, with No. 15 LSU hanging on for a 69-65 win. The Tigers went on to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Rutgers downed the Seahawks last season at the RAC, 83-53, as five Scarlet Knights reached double figures.

Following its first road trip of the year, RU returns home for three-straight games starting with Colgate on Friday, Nov. 28, Davidson on Sunday, November 30 and the ACC/Big Ten Challenge with North Carolina on Thursday, Dec 4.

It will be the first ever meeting between the Red Raiders and Scarlet Knights, while Rutgers meets the SoCon Tournament finalist Wildcats for the third-straight season. Last season at Davidson, RU triumphed with a 66-35, win holding the strong three-point shooting squad to only one field goal from behind the arc. The Scarlet Knights take on the Tar Heels for the first time ever in a game that features women's basketball's top two winningest coaches in RU's C. Vivian Stringer and UNC's Sylvia Hatchell.

The Scarlet Knights travel to another SEC opponent on Sunday, Dec. 7, meeting Arkansas and follow with a trip to Temple on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

RU will take on Arkansas for the first time in school history, a squad that is under first-year head coach Jimmy Dykes. The Scarlet Knights and Temple, once conference rivals in the Atlantic-10 and the American Athletic Conference, face each other in nonconference competition, meeting for the 49th time in series history.

Rutgers with then return home to host Tennessee on Sunday, Dec. 14 pitting the two teams from the 2007 NCAA Championship Game on the hardwood for the 23rd meeting between the two schools.

The nonconference schedule comes to a close on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Iona. The Gaels reached the championship game of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament before falling to Drexel in the first round of the WNIT.

While the Big Ten schedule is being finalized with dates and times to be released at a future date, the Scarlet Knights know they will play to host to nine conference games. Among the Big Ten teams coming to Piscataway are Maryland (NCAA - Final Four), Penn State (NCAA - Sweet 16), Nebraska (NCAA - Second Round), Iowa (NCAA – Second Round), Purdue (NCAA Second Round), Indiana (WNIT Quarterfinals), Michigan (WNIT Third Round), Minnesota (WNIT Third Round) and Illinois.
