PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 11, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s basketball team, winners of the 2014 WNIT championship, will be honored at the Scarlet Knights’ spring football game at High Point Solutions Stadium on Saturday, April 26.
Fans are invited to meet and greet the 2014 WNIT champions and take photos with the championship trophy outside the stadium on the North Plaza from 3-3:45 p.m.
Additionally, the 10 members of the Rutgers women’s basketball team will be recognized at halftime.
Led by head coach C. Vivian Stringer in her 19th season at the helm, the Scarlet Knights won their final three games of the WNIT on the road, including a 56-54 victory over UTEP in the championship game in front of 12,222 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
Sophomore forward Kahleah Copper (Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 17.5 points and 7.2 rebounds in post-season play, including 18 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game en-route to being named the WNIT’s Most Valuable Player. Freshman guard Tyler Scaife (Little Rock, Ark.) was named to the all-tournament team having averaged 18.0 points per game during the tournament run.
The Scarlet Knights ended the season at 28-9 overall, the most wins since the 2004-05 season. The roster boasted four juniors, three sophomores, two freshmen and no seniors.
