A finalist for three national player-of-the-year awards (Wooden Women’s Award, State Farm Wade Trophy and Naismith), as well as the Nancy Lieberman Award (nation’s top point guard), she ranked second in scoring, fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.84), sixth in assists, 11th in free-throw percentage (.756), 12th in steals and 13th in field-goal percentage (.418) in the BIG EAST regular-season statistics. Pondexter, who was the 2003 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team as well as the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team, was a unanimous selection to this season’s Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team.

Pondexter became the third Scarlet Knight to be named a two-time first-team all-BIG EAST selection, following in the footsteps of Shawnetta Stewart (1999, 2000) and Tasha Pointer (1999, 2001).

The Scarlet Knights (18-10, 10-6 BIG EAST), under the direction of ninth-year head coach C. Vivian Stringer, will begin play in the BIG EAST Championship Saturday, March 6, against Seton Hall at 6:00 p.m. The game will be carried live on WCTC 1450 AM, WMTR 1250 AM and WRSU 88.7 FM.
