  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 10, 2014) – Freshman guard Tyler Scaife (Little Rock,  Ark.) was named the American Rookie of the Week for the fourth time in the last five weeks, while sophomore center Rachel Hollivay (Columbus, Miss.) earned a nod to the American Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday by the conference office.

    Scaife averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in RU’s 2-0 week that included wins against Cincinnati and SMU.

    Scaife notched 18 points in RU’s 58-53 win vs. Cincinnati with the rookie Scarlet Knight shooting 8-of-13 (.615) from the floor and 2-of-3 from the line.  She dished out five assists against the Bearcats, one shy of her career mark, and also added in three steals and a block.  At SMU on Saturday, Scaife contributed 10 points along with three rebounds in the come from behind 65-64 victory.

    On the season, Scaife is averaging 13.3 points per game along with 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  In conference action, she is averaging 14.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest.

    Hollivay, who represents Rutgers on the AAC Honor Roll for the second time this season, averaged 10.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and shot 64.3 percent from the field in Rutgers’ 2-0 week, which included Hollivay with the game-winning tip-in at SMU on Saturday afternoon.

    Hollivay had seven points and eight rebounds against Cincinnati on Tuesday night.   The Scarlet Knight sophomore was 3-of-6 from the field and also added in six rejections.

    On Saturday at SMU, Hollivay notched her second career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  She collected Scaife’s missed lay-up for the game-winning tip-in at the buzzer in RU’s 65-64 victory.  Against the Mustangs, Hollivay shot 6-of-8 from the floor (.750) and also added in two blocks and an assist.

    On the year, Hollivay is averaging 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.  In American play, the Columbus, Miss. native is pouring in 8.0 points per game along with 7.2 rebounds and 3.1 rebounds per contest.

    The Rutgers women’s basketball team is back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Houston.  Tipoff is at 8 p.m. (EST).
