PISCATAWAY, N.J. (January 13, 2014) – Freshman guard Tyler Scaife (Little Rock, Ark.) has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the league office.
Scaife helped RU to a pair of AAC victories and extend the Scarlet Knights’ win streak to nine by averaging 17.0 points per game last week.
The freshman guard was one of three Scarlet Knights in double figures and RU’s second leading scorer in a 78-58 win over Cincinnati last Tuesday by tying her season-high with 18 points. The rookie Scarlet Knights shot 9-of-16 from the field (.563) and added in four rebounds and a pair of assists.
She followed with a game-high 16 points in Saturday’s 64-54 victory over SMU. Scaife also added in four rebounds and two steals in the victory over the Mustangs.
On the season, Scaife is averaging 12.1 points per game.
The Rutgers women’s basketball team hits the road again, traveling to Memphis on Tuesday, Jan. 14 for its first ever meeting with the Tigers. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (EST).
