PISCATAWAY (December 17, 2012) –   The Rutgers women’s basketball team won its second straight BIG EAST weekly award as fifth-year senior forward Chelsey Lee (Miami, Fla.) was named to the conference’s honor roll it was announced on Monday.

Lee poured in a career-high 21 points against Southern last Wednesday and hauled in a season-high 11 rebounds against No. 21/23 Miami (Fla.) on Sunday as Rutgers went 2-0 last week.

The Miami, Fla. native, who missed last season with a shoulder injury, had her best game since returning in RU’s 63-49 win over Southern on Dec. 11.  The fifth-year senior poured in a career-high 21 points in her first-ever 20+ point game effort along with five rebounds and two steals.  She went 8-of-12 from the floor against the Jaguars and a perfect 5-of-5 from the line in the win.

Lee then had four points and a season-high 11 boards, including nine on the defensive glass, in the Scarlet Knights’ 42-34 win over Miami, RU’s first win over a Top 25 opponent this season, on Dec. 16.  Lee also returned to the starting line-up against the Hurricanes after coming off the bench in the previous six outings.

On the season, Lee is averaging 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Lee is the second Scarlet Knight to be named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.  Senior forward/center Monique Oliver (Las Vegas, Nev.) earned the honor last week averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 3.0 steals in wins over Louisiana Tech and LIU Brooklyn.

The Rutgers women’s basketball team, in the midst of a four-game win streak, closes out a three-game homestand on Friday against Stony Brook in the Holiday Doubleheader with the men’s team.  Game time against the Seawolves is 5:00 p.m. followed by the Rutgers men’s basketball team taking on Howard.
