PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 6, 2012) – In conjunction with the Rutgers Athletics relief plan to aid those affected by Hurricane Sandy, the Red Cross will be on site Friday evening collecting donations at the RAC during the men’s basketball season opener against St. Peter’s (7:30 p.m. tip-off). In addition, fans who wish to donate to the Red Cross Relief Fund can do so via text message by sending the text “REDCROSS” to 90999.
Rutgers Athletics also designed a t-shirt with the state outline of New Jersey and the word “stRong” featured. Fans can purchase the t-shirt for $15 at the basketball game with ALL proceeds going to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.
At Saturday’s football game against Army (12 noon kickoff), the Red Cross will be located throughout High Point Solutions Stadium collecting donations. Fans can also purchase the t-shirt at Saturday’s football game or at Scarlet Fever in downtown New Brunswick later this week. Several student groups will also sell the t-shirt on campus this week.
The Rutgers & Livingston Alumni Associations will also be co-hosting a coat drive at the Army game. Fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used coats in an effort to help our New Jersey neighbors in need during the cold winter months. Collection bins will be located outside of the North, West, and East Gates at High Point Solutions Stadium.
