  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – This Is A Game Ladies, a documentary by Partisan Pictures that chronicles the Rutgers women’s basketball team during the 2000-2001 season, will be shown at two upcoming film festivals.

The 117-minute documentary will be shown Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival at 7:30 p.m. at the Cinema Paradiso. It will then be shown at the High Falls Film Festival Saturday, Nov. 8, in Rochester, NY. The piece will be shown at the Little Theatre at 3:15 p.m. and will be followed by a question-and-answer session with producer Tracey Barry.

The documentary follows the Scarlet Knights throughout the 2000-2001 season, one year removed from Rutgers’ first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Final Four. According to Gabriel Wardell of Silverdocs, “This Is A Game Ladies succeeds on many levels. The outstanding cinematography and energizing music keep pace with the young women of Rutgers. Director Peter Schnall dedicates this story not just to the players and their season, but also to the lady who gives all of her being to the cause. A visionary, a mother and a widow, Coach (C. Vivian) Stringer has overcome insurmountable odds and personal tragedy as she continues to form talented athletes into confident women and committed citizens. Some say that women’s basketball is more passionate and unaffected than its male counterpart, and This Is A Game Ladies makes a persuasive case.”

The piece made its international debut at the AFI/Discovery Silverdocs Film Festival June 19-20 in Silver Springs, MD, and won the Audience Award, and also appeared at this month’s Starz Denver International Film Festival PBS will air the film in 2004.

Partisan Pictures has filmed numerous documentaries for National Geographic TV, PBS and the Discovery Channel, including Air Force One. Partisan founder Peter Schnall, a six-time Emmy winner, served as the director and cinematographer for This Is A Game Ladies.
