| PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers women’s basketball team (10-5, 4-2) defeated St. John’s (7-11, 1-6) today in double overtime, 70-64, at the Louis Brown Athletic Center. In the second overtime, RU senior guard Mauri Horton (Minneapolis, MN) nailed a three-pointer to give Rutgers a 63-60 lead with 4:38 remaining. | PISCATAWAY, NJ (January 15, 2002) – Behind an 18-4 run to start the game, the Rutgers women’s basketball team (8-4, 2-1) defeated No. 19/25 Villanova (12-2, 3-1) tonight at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, 58-57. RU is now 6-0 at home this season. It was Rutgers’ first victory over a ranked team since Feb. 17, 2001, a 54-53 win against No. 1/1 Notre Dame at the LBAC. It was the first time Rutgers has defeated a ranked team when being unranked since March 16, 1998; a 62-61 win at #24 Iowa State in NCAA Tournament second round. | |
